CarMP3

May 16th, 2007 by Jason

My MP3 player I built for my car. I have since retired this machine, I was using a cd player that plays MP3’s but now I have an Iriver H10. All info below is just for historical reference…

Below is a description of my car pc as well as some pictures.

Through several generous donations I have so far put $0 (not including the $18 spent on tools or the price of the car) into this project. The current system is a Pentium 2 333Mhz with 32megs Ram running Win 98 (I’m currently considering other OS’s). I’m using a Pcchips M748LMRT motherboard for a few reasons #1. It was free, #2. All devices are integrated, #3. Its small. For the display I use LCD plugin for winamp to display to my HD44780-based 2X16 LCD. The machine is controlled with an X-10 mp3 remote.

Parts list

HD44780-based 2X16 LCD
300 Watt power inverter
