When I got my 1st digital camera in 2002 I quickly realized I was going to have a hard time organizing my photos. I decided to do it the hard way and write my own php photo album to keep track of my ever growing collection. I know tons of php albums already exist but whats the fun in that.

Since then Ive added 42,327 photos that are search able by days, keywords, descriptions, types, size, and even who its a picture of. The most recent addition is the ability of tagging photos with GPS info to provide maps and aerial photos. All the photos are imported with a shell script I wrote. If I ever get a chance to rewrite the code I may make it available for download but as of now it pretty ugly and even confuses me.

• 11-21-2009 I’ve continued to improve the searching functions this year. I’ve also added a few little features that Deana wanted. We currently have just over 55,000 photos.

• 02-17-2009 Check out all the new features including top 10 lists, better commenting, better searching, and more. I’ve also almost finished tagging all the photos with who is in them.

• 01-24-2009 I’ve had a creative streak and started reworking my photo album. I’m not sure if I will ever finish it but I think I’ve added some better functionality and made it easier to use.

• 06-30-2008 I have not been doing a very good job of keeping things updated for the past few years. The photo album site is in need of a great deal of maintenance. I have continued to add all new photos and currently have 37,022.

• 03-08-2006 Well I blew right past 20,000 photos. With our vacation to Florida we are at 21,747 photos now.

• 12-29-2005 I got myself a Canon 20d for Christmas so I should be taking alot more photos. After I get the Christmas photos added I should be over 19,000. As for the site reapairs they have been progressing slowly. I have not been able to find much time to work on it. Full user functionality is almost back but I still need to re-do my admin backend there for none of the past few months photos have any info with them.

• 10-05-2005 The photo album is some what back up now. I’m in the middle of rebuilding it now so some day it will be fixed.

• 10-02-2005 Sorry but the photo album is currently broken. Hopefully i will get it back up and running in the next week or so.

• 08-08-2005 After adding photos this weekend from Mac-o-Chee castle and our boating trip I now have over 16,000 in the database.

• 08-01-2005 Well it’s been a slow year for photos. I recently added pictures of several birthdays and my trip to Kings Island. We are currently at 15,971 photos

• 05-22-2005 We took over 1200 pictures on our recent trip to Las Vegas. That takes the photo album to a total of 15,284 pictures.

• 04-19-2005 I recently added about 180 photos from my trip to Pittsburgh Pa last weekend. The album now contains 13,923 photos. I’m running a little behind schedule.

• 11-10-2004 With a short trip to Gatlinburg Tn we now have over 13,000 photos and over 6000 for this year. That’s way more than I had hoped for.

• 09-03-2004 Today the photo album has passed the 12,000 mark. I have also shot over 100 digital rolls with my Olympus C-750 camerea.

• 08-31-2004 Some changes were made to the way names are added to the photo album. Of course these will only be seen in the admin mode.

• 08-30-2004 We have taken over 5000 photo’s this year.

• 06-08-2004 We added over 1000 honeymoon pictures. Most of wich are bad. the Album now has 10,431 photos.

• 05-18-2004 We took 844 pictures last weekend while we were in Gatlinburg TN for our wedding.

• 05-01-2004 The album now contains over 8000 images. Thats 1105 from this year alone.

• 04-21-2004 I’ve added pictures of Deana’s Wedding shower and me skeet shooting. I also corrected there times since I forgot to change my clock for daylight savings.

• 03-28-2004 In order to get back on track with my photo taking we took 365 pictures at the Franklin park conservatory today.

• 03-15-2004 I added 88 photos yesterday most of wich were taken when my server was down. They were taken at Hayden Falls.
